History

The Rugby Inter-Faith Forum is an informal group that first came together in 1999 in response to a suggestion that the faith communities in Rugby might like to do something special to celebrate the millennium.

From the initial discussions two ideas emerged:

  • we should plant a tree to mark the millennium and our common hope as faith communities in the future
  • we should continue to meet together regularly to share our faith and to understand one another better

On 4th November 2001, with our Mayor and MP and the leaders of the faith communities in Rugby, we planted an oak tree beside the Library and next to it a plaque bearing the Millennium Resolution.

The forum continued to meet regularly more or less continuously ever since the millenium until 2020.

In 2020 the combination of COVID related restrictions and the changing interests of the members of RIFF has led to the decision to suspend RIFF until a new committee and agenda can be defined.
