Public Lecture “On the Women who built the Sikh Empire”

The Rugby Sikh community invite you to the public lecture on the subject “On the Women who built the Sikh Empire” to be held on 6th October at 6.30pm at the Benn Hall.

The name and reputation of Maharajah Ranjit Singh, the ruler of 19th century Sikh Empire, is famous worldwide but what about  the women who helped to build and protect this kingdom?

The speaker, Oxford historian Dr Priya Atwal, will  talk about the critical roles played by the Maharajah’s female relations in Punjabi politics and state formation during the early 19th century.
